Want to volunteer, but don’t have the time to participate in one of our half-day book deliveries? Book Sortings are the perfect opportunity to help Ride for Reading accomplish our mission when strapped for time.
Every month, Ride for Reading needs volunteers to help sort books and clean at our Warehouse (1515 Elm Hill Pike Suite 107 Nashville, TN 37210) in preparation for our monthly Book Deliveries, Book Distributions and other events. During these book sortings, our volunteers will lightly clean books, sort books according to grade level, box books for upcoming events, assist with cleaning warehouse shelving, tables, chairs, and other equipment, and sometimes help with additional warehouse maintenance such as painting, office organization, and more.
Ride for Reading Book Sortings are also an opportunity for educators to select books from Ride for Reading’s inventory for their classrooms and schools while all volunteers can select books for their personal reading selection.
Book sortings are ideal for corporations, volunteer teams and other groups looking for a team building activity that gives back to the Nashville community.
If you would like to set-up a private corporate group outing, team building opportunity or personalized volunteer event with Ride for Reading, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Current Book Sorting opportunities will be posted on our Events calendar.
*Note to volunteers: The temperature in our warehouse tends to be cooler or hotter depending on the time of year and the daily forecast. Also, volunteers are likely to get dirty, so please dress appropriately. We only have one bathroom that can tend to get clogged with overuse so we also encourage groups of volunteers to try and use the restroom before arriving. Please, no open-toed shoes. Snacks and beverages are typically provided for volunteers.
