Join us for our final book delivery of this year to the 400+ children at Whitsitt Elementary on Wednesday, November 7! We want to end with a celebration so we will be offering coffee donated by Three Brothers Coffee, OJ & snacks for all Volunteers.
We will meet at Whitsett Park (E. Thompson Lane & Old Glenrose Ave.) at 7:30 AM to load up our books and ride bikes as a group to Whitsitt Elementary. If you do not want to ride a bike and would just like to be a volunteer reader, you can meet us at the Park to gather some books to take with you and then meet us at the school. Cyclists are welcome to register for both options. If you are riding your bike please bring a backpack to carry your books in (we have a few spares to lend) and everyone must wear a helmet. We are scheduled to arrive at the school at 8:15AM so we will roll out at approx. 8:00 AM. It will be a short (< 2 mi) bike ride on the Mill Creek Greenway, through Whitsett Park and surrounding Woodbine neighborhoods. We should be back to our meeting point no later than 9:30 AM.
We are excited to share the love of reading (literacy) & cycling (healthy-living) with these students. We are looking for 10 volunteers to read a book to the pre-K, K and 1st grade classes. Please indicate if you would like to read on your registration form. If you have read on past deliveries, we would like to open this open to new volunteer readers. We invite you to invite your friends, family, co-workers, bike club members and at least someone you know that has never experienced a delivery before & join us to impact the lives of several children at Whitsitt Elementary!
As always, we will all ride together. Helmets are required.
Special thanks to this month’s delivery partners: Metro Nashville Parks, Nashville Public Library, the Nashville Sounds & “Booster”, King of Pops, Three Brothers Coffee, Metro Nashville Police Department, Green Fleet Bicycle Shop, Metro Nashville Schools & Walk/Bike Nashville!
Thank you all for volunteering your time with Ride for Reading!
