RIDE FOR READING ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Nashville, TN – based nonprofit introduces new Director Brenda Mikec
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 5, 2018)- Ride for Reading™, the Nashville-based non-profit organization which promotes literacy and healthy living among kids living in low-income communities by delivering age-appropriate books via bicycle, is pleased to announce the hire of Brenda Mikec as Executive Director.
Brenda was born and raised in Wisconsin, but found and fell in love with Nashville in 2010. She holds a Bachelor of Business in Human Resources and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. She has 14 plus years of combined Business, Human Resources, Marketing, Non-Profit, Event planning and Community Outreach experience.
An adventure-seeker by nature, a love for travel opened the door to Missions beginning in 2008. She fell in love on her first trip to Africa and has returned four times. Through these experiences, and her own upbringing, she has developed a compassion for those that live or have grown up in low-income families and poverty-stricken areas.
Brenda is honored and excited to combine her love for reading and cycling and to continue pursuing Ride for Reading’s mission to help children become healthy and literate.
Interim Director and past Board Chair Graham Gerdeman says, “We are so excited to bring Brenda in as the new Executive Director of Ride For Reading. We are entering our 10th year of operations in Nashville, and our San Antonio Chapter is entering its 2nd year. With Brenda on board, we believe 2018 will be the beginning of a new era for Ride For Reading.”
