Symbolic delivery to Dell City

In the same spirit that has contributed to the growth of Ride for Reading, a group of volunteers have decided to host a historic and symbolic delivery during the 5th edition of National Ride for Reading Week.

Devon Balet, a loyal supporter of Ride for Reading, will be leading a group of volunteers as they deliver books to the children of Dell City, Texas. Dell City is a tiny town near the Mexican border.

The cyclists will be starting their 90 mile ride in El Paso, TX on May 13th and are scheduled to arrive in Dell City on May 16th. The riders will also be filming a documentary that will showcase the need experienced by the population of this marginalized community that sits in the middle of the desert.

Mathew Portell, founder of Ride for Reading, will be delivering books alongside the volunteers. Mathew always envisioned an organization capable of impacting the most vulnerable children. As Ride for Reading continues to expand nationally, the Dell City delivery symbolizes the organization’s ability to provide services to any community in the country.
We are proud of the spirit our volunteers bring to the mission, and we are grateful for their commitment to enriching the lives of so many.
